Dawn Grace Jones

Dawn Grace-Jones is a New York born Bahamian descendant, wife and mother of three.

Dawn has creatively written poems, short stories and the novel, Cover Me Naked.

Dawn is described as a writer that grabs her readers and without failure they have not let go.  The responses that she receives to Cover Me Naked are, “please give us more books. Where is the next book? Oh my goodness, I did not expect all of that.”

The joy of writing is something that she uses to express herself. She described the characters as being in her mind often dictating what happens with them in the story line.  There are times that Dawn changes something in the story line and in her mind and then she is encouraged to change it back or to make it different. Dawn says that this is from the character itself asking for the change. “My characters are alive in my head.”

Dawn is a wife, mother, registered nurse, attorney and counselor at law, mediator, arbitrator and an author.  Cover Me Naked, a book about life where characters are swept through situations showing that we can over come any situation; however it all starts with releasing and letting go of the past so that we may move forward.  At the same time, the book shows love at its finest.

Cover Me Naked is a romance novel with life changing events.  As Maggie, the main character is swept through life, she graduates from college and moves on a roller coaster without feeling safely strapped in.

At times Maggie wasn’t quite sure whether she was going forward or backwards. She was an inspiration to those around her yet she felt caught up in situations that had no apparent end.  Becoming re acclimated to home life after being away isn’t the hardest task but coupled with boyfriend adjustments and work responsibilities can be a bit much for a young lady who does not have the ultimate teacher in place to guide her through these lessons. Experience.

Maggie meets Andrew and falls in love. On the other hand, there is Bill, who isn’t quite ready to let Maggie go. It is a story of love yet there is great fear of loss and the need to endure loss and grow. It shows how we don’t always have choices when it come to who we fall in love with or who is in love with us. There is more then everyday life issues in this novel because the healthcare setting makes for more interesting descriptions of the surroundings. The on the job issues can be identified with across the board where Maggie faces envy and jealousy because of her wit and smarts. She is the nurse assigned to charge nurse everyday that she works although she is the youngest one there and she is still on probation.

Although Maggie is young, she remains smart and courageous. She is able to teach us all lessons about life and living.  How we go about life is up to us but we must learn and grow and move forwards.

The theme of Cover Me Naked is that in order to move forward, we must release and let got of the past.  Once we stop releasing and letting go of the past, we die. Our goals, emotions and desires can easily die. It could be that we physically die from the disappointment and depression or spiritually we stop progression and unfolding.

Cover me means to cover me with your presence. Naked means to remain transparent; no mask.

Maggie walks through life with this character asset and it makes her the shinning star that she is thus she bounces hack form loss and disappointment more easily then most.
