A story of survival, triumph, and the search for true love
in sultry Miami, sophisticated New York, and the rugged mountains
of Colorado. Three men desire her. Three men have claimed
her. Which one will Niya Londres choose? As Niya carefully
weighs her decision, she discovers that all she's ever dreamed
of might not be what she really wants...
Long, lean, and exotically beautiful, Afro-Cuban Niya Londres
has achieved a great deal since coming to America ten years
ago. Through talent and hard work, she climbed her way to
the top of her glittering career as an exotic salsa dancer,
and then as the star of a hit Broadway musical. Now she's
planning her lavish Acapulco wedding. There's just one hitch
-- she hasn't said "Yes" to any of the three men
who are madly in love with her!
Tremont Henderson, a gifted jazz musician with a checkered
past, was the first to capture Niya's heart. He pulled her
out of a Florida swamp and into his exciting world of hot
music and sultry dance. Broadway producer and her long-time
manager, Granger Cooper, fell in love with Niya at first sight
and now holds a claim on her affections. She owes him everything,
as the man who made her a star. And then there's Astin Spencer,
a tanned and devilishly sexy entrepreneur who calls the Nevada
desert his home, and who unexpectedly comes into Niya's life
and turns everything upside down.....
BETWEEN GOODBYES touches on the topic of the plight of Afro-Cuban
immigrants and their struggle to assimilate into American
society. It also provides a glimpse into the current socio-economic
conditions that exist in Cuba.

BOOK REVIEW

STARS****
BETWEEN GOODBYES by Anita Bunkley is the stunning story of
Afro-Cuban Niya Loundres, who escapes Cuba aboard a tiny vessel
carrying Haitians to Florida. Vigilantes attack them right
off the coast of Florida and she has to swim to shore with
a gunshot wound to her chest. Her brother, Lorenzo, is missing.
Niya is frightened, but pushes on anyway, in spite of her
wound and the thick, thorny swamp she is in. She runs across
Sandi Lee, a cook and waiter in her father's diner, who takes
her in, and with the help of a Jamaican `healer', nurses Niya
back to health.
Being an accomplished dancer and performer, Niya moves up
quickly in the US, however, she is still distressed about
the loss of her brother and she constantly worries about her
mother back in Cuba. In her travels, she meets three wonderful
men who immediately fall in love with her and want to marry
her. Which one will she choose and how will she decide?
Anita Bunkley has spun a wonderful novel that includes life
in Cuba as well as life in the US. The characters are so well-
developed, I felt as if I knew them. It was well-written and
the suspense continued until the last page. It is really a
page turner and anyone, no matter your favorite genre, will
find this a hard book to put down.
