Danyelle Scroggins![]() Danyelle is a Author, Pastor, Teacher, Inspirator, Wife, and a Mother. Behind this great woman is a life story of pain and promise and the reality of who she is Christ. It is this reality that has caused Danyelle to become a great author whose books are dedicated towards changing the lives of God's children. Danyelle was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana with her parents Milton and Helen Hall and her three siblings: Zeldnett, Sylvia, and Rayshun. Because she was a preculiar child, her grandmother, the late Missionary L. B. Ford, took her under her wings and made sure that she was in church whenever the doors were opened. She was baptized at an early age at Greater Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverand Leonard Jones. As a child she spent a lot of her time at her father's family church, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church as well, under the leadership of Pastor George Green Sr. Because there was unmistakenly a plan for Danyelle's life, her teenage years spiraled out of control causing her to become a teenage mother. Danyelle married at the age of seventeen and became the proud mother of three beautiful children: Raiyawna, Dobrielle, and Dwight Gatlin Jr. After living in Yokosuka Japan, small stints in San Francisco, Corpus Christi, Philidelphia, and later in Jacksonville Fla, she divorced and started seeking God for her purpose. After some very painful relationships, Danyelle began to seek God's divine revelation towards relationships. It is this revelation that took her back to a very unique childhood gift...writing and then God called her into the ministry. Because of the negativity behind women preaching, she all but tried to turn her back on the calling. Through a past relationship, Danyelle ended up in jail for four days. During these four days, she made a vow to God to do whatever He told her regardless to what people said. She preached and taught diligently for four days and was then bailed out by a Pastor from Corsicana, Texas. This led to a ministry that is designed to shake the atmosphere, cause demons to tremble, and usher God's children into the acceptance of the most precious and sweetest gift given to man...Salvation. As a reward to her diligence, God allowed her to be found by Pastor Reynard Scroggins, with whom she's been married to for almost a ten years. Together with her husband she pastors New Vessels Ministries. Danyelle has altogether now dedicated her life to helping people heal through the Word of God, the love of Jesus Christ, and her books. Tysha![]() Tysha Michelle Hill-McDougald was raised on the gritty streets of Youngstown, Ohio. She was fortunate to be born into a loving family that believes it takes a village to raise a child. Tysha was raised by her grandparents but many family members had a hand in raising the spoiled little poor girl. Her love of reading began in the fourth grade when her first poem was published in the hometown newspaper. In high school, Tysha’s English teacher discovered her talent for writing and encouraged her to utilize her gift. Not willing to leave her grandparents, instead of going off to college after graduating high school, Tysha devoted her time to caring for her ailing grandfather and began working in the banking industry. After the death of her grandfather in 1991, Tysha was forced to find her independence without the help of the person she had always leaned on. Unbeknownst to her family, Tysha became intimate with the streets and the club scenes. By the time she was twenty-one; Tysha became a single mother and found herself unable to provide for her two boy with the monthly welfare check and food stamp allotment. In order to take care of them, Tysha began two hustles; braiding hair out of her apartment and playing a small role in the drug hustle. At age twenty-three, Tysha became gravely ill and almost lose her life. During her recovery, Tysha decided it was time she made better life choices. In 1995, Tysha sold off many of her worldly possessions and moved to Columbus, Ohio where her mother, sister and brother resided. Within the first year of relocating to the capital city, Tysha got a job working in the banking industry, bought her first reliable car and secured a home for her small boys. In 1998, Tysha met the man who one year later became her husband. For the first time since the death of her grandfather, Tysha could finally say she was content with her life. Early in 2002 a mysterious illness began attacking Tysha’s body, forcing her to resign from her job with the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office. While the illness required numerous hospital stays and trips to various doctors, her faith in God and support from loved ones allowed Tysha to stay strong and positive. Later that same year, Tysha’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer survivor. That diagnosis would allow Tysha to discover her true purpose in life – writing. Tysha and her sister composed a letter to family and friends informing them of their mother’s battle with cancer and educating them on the importance of self-breast exams. A cousin read the letter and said to Tysha, “You should write a book.” Although her cousin, Malcolm, is a creative writing professor at Lorain Community College, Tysha didn’t take the comment seriously. A few weeks after their initial conversation, Tysha received a package containing samples of work by different African-American writers. Inside the envelope was a note from Malcolm. It simply read, “Remember that you are your grandfather’s child and you can do anything you put your mind to.” It was then that Tysha picked up a pen and notebook and began writing her first novel titled Poetic Life Lessons – A Novel. It took another two years before doctors were able to diagnose the ailment attacking Tysha’s body. Living with the daily pain and limitations of Fibromyalgia (a muscular-skeletal disease, which causes severe widespread pain) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a challenge that Tysha is faced with everyday. She refused to allow the pain to block her blessings or stop her dream of becoming a published author. Through a series of introductions and chance meetings, Tysha was able to find a place for herself in the literary world. Tysha recently landed a two book deal with Urban Books, an imprint of Kensington Publishing. Her first published work, “BOSSY” is featured in the anthology Nikki Turner presents, Street Chronicles - Girls In Da Game, was released in June 2007. Her first novel, The Boss. . .a story of a female hustler, is slated for release in February 2008. A second short story titled, “Keepin’ It In The Family” will be featured in the Around The Way Girls 5 anthology in the Summer of 2008. In addition to Urban Literature, Tysha’s first Christian Fiction short story, Ghetto Luv, can be found in the anthology “Even Sinners Have Souls 2", coming December 2008 from End Of The Rainbow Projects. Arlether Wilson![]() No one challenges traditional roles and stereotypes more than Arlether Wilson. After spending more than ten years in foster care she moved back to Fifth Ward, a poverty stricken community in Houston, Texas where no one was expected to excel. While her life story is similar to many African American women, it is surprisingly distinctive. Arlether has always been an achiever and attributes her drive, determination and will to survive to her unyielding faith. As the oldest of three children she was expected to grow up fast and relinquish much of her childhood. Then just when she thought the generational cycle of teen pregnancy was broken she became pregnant and was forced to drop out of school during her senior year. During her journey Arlether encountered many struggles, but none as arduous or impactful as homelessness. In the end it proved to be a great learning experience, even though several people tried to discourage her by telling her that she would never succeed because of her family history. Fortunately, Arlether was determined to defy their beliefs and follow her own dreams. Her life changed after Black American poet, essayist and lecturer, Nikki Giovanni visited Phillis Wheatley High School. That was the first time that Arlether was inspired to write. After her divorce she applied and was accepted into the police academy, where she graduated number one in her class. Three years later she was promoted to sergeant and later excelled to the rank of captain. During her tenure as an officer Arlether also earned her Master Peace Officer Certification, which is the highest certification an officer can attain. Then in 1998 she was honored as “Officer of the Year” and later earned several congressional commendations. Arlether is a veteran officer and has gained a wealth of experience, which includes being a certified Child Abuse and Family Violence Investigator. But she didn’t stop there. In 2001, Arlether graduated from cum laude from the University of Houston and later earned her Masters Degree in Behavioral Science. Then in 2005, Arlether was offered a position with another agency where she created and manages a Victims’ Services Division. Today, Arlether is an advocate for abused women and children throughout her city. She believes that it is important to take an active and supportive role in one’s community, and not just sit back and “point fingers”. Therefore she is an avid volunteer for many charitable organizations. She is the Texas Ambassador of w.o.m.e.n.EO. Inc., which is a national women's organization that mentors women and girls. Although Arlether has an unusual background for a writer, she is the debut author of an inspirational memoir, Rewriting the Script, which is available in bookstores and online. Despite all of her accomplishments, Arlether is most proud of being a good mother to two wonderful young adults. She is presently working on her doctorate and her next book.
