New author Jennifer ‘Je’ Wilford introduces a heart felt true story, that will capture your attention and touch your heart from the very beginning. In an attempt for self searching, Jennifer surveyed several higher educational programs to assist her in identifying her skills. Wanting to follow in her cousin, Dr. Michael K. Butler’s footsteps, she peeked an interest in medicine. She continued to purse that dream in high school by enrolling in the medical program at Belaire High School in 1988. After graduating in 1992, her interests turned to the field of Architecture Design while attending Southern University in Baton Rouge. Still trying to find her niche, she pursued other venues, such as Pharmacy and Law Enforcement, until she was re-introduced in 2006 to her first love, which is design. However, the gift of Grahic Design did not occur overnight. She began drawing at the tender age of 7 and designed her first T-Shirt at the age of 10.

With God’s direction, she used the talents that he had given to her and took a leap of faith and became the sole owner of Je’Designs, a freelance graphic design and promotional company. Je’ always had a mature level of thinking and writing, but it wasn’t until the sudden death of her mother and father, that she picked up the pen to write again. Not knowing any other way to cope with their death, she counts God as being her source of strength, enabling her to write through her pain. She has stated on several occasions, that God gave her the name, “Blessed Therapy”. ” My mother taught me at an early age that anytime you want something in your life to prosper, you must keep God first. I have always considered it to be a blessing to be able to help others with their problems by simply listening to them and telling them about the changes that I have been through in my life. It helped them, but it was my therapy”.

After living an alternative lifestyle for 18yrs, Jennifer decided to walk away and give her life back to Christ. She states, ” It has been a difficult road, but there is no situation that I can’t overcome, as long as God is with me. I want to see Jesus when I die; and I want to see my parents as well. I’ve learned in life that you will always fear what you don’t know. This time, I turned fear, into Faith and I let God lead the way”. Jennifer currently resides in Dallas, Texas and is a member of the Friendship West Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Fredrick D. Haynes III.

K. L. Brady

K.L. Brady is a D.C. native and grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the setting of her debut novel. When she hit her “tween” years, her mother packed the family and moved to Bellaire, Ohio, where she eventually graduated from Bellaire High School. She attended the University of Akron for a few semesters, where she pledged Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., before moving back to the D.C. area. She discovered a love for reading and writing at the age of three, by her mother’s accounts. Through the years, she has maintained diaries and journals, but the journals she wrote as an adult provided the inspiration for The Bum Magnet.

“Journaling allowed me to keep my writing a secret from the world. I’d write things and crack myself up, but I just never conceived of actually pursuing writing as anything other than an emotional outlet, that is, until I turned forty. With the real estate slump (my second love), and a high dose of Oprah’s Best Life series, I realized that I was suppressing a major part of who I was. I wanted to share my voice, experiences, and wacky sense of humor. The convergence of all those things was the kick in the pants I needed to get off my duff and write the novel. Although most of the novel consists of figments of my imagination and stretched truths, the main character’s life does mirror my own in some respects (unfortunately).”

A single mom, Brady lives just outside of D.C. in Cheltenham, Maryland, with her son, William. She works for a government contracting firm and is an active real estate agent with Exit Realty. Brady is also an alumnus of the University of the District of Columbia and University of Maryland University College, earning a B.A. in Economics and M.B.A., respectively.

“If I have on regret, it’s that I didn’t pursue my love of writing before I took out over $30,000 in student loans to get my M.B.A. Hopefully, my degree will serve me well in the marketing and business phases of the publishing industry because, God willing, I’m here to stay.”
